I used to (jokingly) chastise Byron for having FOMO. For those of you who don't know, FOMO is Fear of Missing Out, a condition developed when you compare your life to the social lives of other promoted through media like Instagram and Facebook. Every single person interacting on social media probably has a small case of FOMO. Every single person who interacts in any way on anything social has a small case of FOMO. And so it is with me and other blogs. It took me awhile to figure this out.
After beginning our little personal blog, I kept wondering why I wasn't getting as many views as so and so, why my content didn't compare, and why I wasn't as successful. These thoughts started happening after the first post. How silly!
The blog world, just like the social media world, is crazy. People post everything ranging from personal rants to theological views to DIY to fashion. Though there are some copycats out there, most find their niche and offer personal perspectives. I had yet to do that. I kept posting things that were like others, injecting a dose of us. I wanted a blog, but had yet to find my niche.
With this redesign, we are proclaiming our new found place in the blogosphere world. Rather than trying to be what everyone is, we will be what and who we are. Our content will still be a mix of what's going on with us, stories, food posts, travel posts...pretty much everything we have done so far. I am sure from the outside, it will not read much differently, but from our side of the computer, it will feel so very unique. I am owning up to my FOMO and changing Our Frozen Cake to offer the Griffins the way the Griffins really are. Hope you love it!
